Club Education and Support Officer 

 

Job title: Club Education and Support Officer
Reporting to: Club and League Development Manager

 

Role overview:
Club Development has been identified as a key component of the FAI’s strategic plan 2016-2020.  Well organised clubs with strong structures and strong volunteers are best placed to promote football, encourage participation and develop players.  An effective club support programme is essential for the long term development of clubs.   
The Club Education and Support Officer will assist the Club and League Development Manager in the roll out of a Club Q-Mark system that identifies best practice, encourages club engagement, and recognises clubs that excel.  He/she will develop a system of education and training that provides clubs with relevant information and resource materials.   In addition, he/she will work with individual clubs to tailor support appropriate to their needs.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Club and League Development Manager in the design and delivery of a system that identifies and promotes best practice in club management (Club Q-Mark)
  • Undertake the administrative requirements associated with delivery of the Club Q-Mark
  • Develop a system of training and education for clubs, in cooperation with the Club and League Development Manager
  • Engage with external education agencies to develop partnerships in course design, delivery and certification
  • Work closely with clubs to identify their specific needs and provide tailored support
  • Help gather and analyse accurate information on current governance and administration practices in football clubs nationally and internationally
  • Work with internal stakeholders to develop a coordinated approach to club education and support
  • Work with external stakeholders to make best use of wider resources in the delivery of a club support programme
  • Work closely with the FAI’s network of Development Officers in the roll out of programme activities
  • Develop and foster positive relationships with the key stakeholders and partners involved in the running of clubs including leagues and FAI affiliates
  • Assist the Club and League Development Manager and the FAI’s Communications Director in implementing the association’s communication strategy with clubs
  • Work closely with the programme sponsor ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership
  • Oversee content management of the relevant areas of the association’s website
  • Evaluate and monitor all activities associated with the programme and adapt as necessary
  • Assist in the planning and delivery of FAI events as required
  • Other duties as assigned by the Club and League Development Manager or as the role develops

 

Required skills & experience:

 

Essential

  • A relevant third-level qualification
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong track record in project management and delivery
  • Excellent organisation and administrative skills
  • Experience in the design of training materials
  • Experience in the preparation and delivery of training
  • Proven self-initiative along with the ability to work as part of a team
  • Ability to think and plan strategically
  • Experience in website management
  • Full driver’s license

 

Desirable

  • A current knowledge of the FAI and its strategic plans
  • A record of involvement in football coaching and delivery
  • Experience in event management
  • A good understanding of the structure of local football
  • Experience in marketing and public relations

 

Location:

The Employee will be based out of the FAI headquarters in Abbotstown, Dublin.

HR Manager

Job Description

HR Manager

The Football Association of Ireland (FAI) is the governing body of football in the Republic of Ireland. Today, over 450,000 people are involved in Irish football either playing with clubs and schools or being involved as coaches, officials and volunteers. The role of the Association is to promote, foster and develop this activity.

Reporting to the Finance Director, you will drive the HR, Training and Employee Relations agenda, working across the Association, whilst ensuring the day to day transactional activities of HR administration are managed. You will also lead, amongst others, the coordination and management of recruitment and performance management processes, whilst creating a proactive customer service environment within HR, which supports the corporate image and promotion of the Football Association of Ireland.

Key responsibilities:

  • Support and guide management on all HR related matters, providing expert advice, ensuring best practice in all areas of people management, Association policies and procedures, conflict resolution and interpretation of employment legislation.
  • Pro-active management of employee relations in line with current legislation and policies.
  • Review of policies and procedures to ensure alignment with best practice and current legislation.
  • Lead the evaluation and development of the Association’s people management strategy in co-operation with the senior team.
  • Support transformational projects such as structure reviews and employee engagement to ensure talent is aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Work with management to ensure annual performance management processes are aligned to the strategic objectives of the Association.
  • Ensure that the leadership team, board and council as appropriate are updated each month on essential operational people issues.
  • Oversee the recruitment process driving the sourcing, interview and selection of high calibre candidates.
  • Act as point of contact for employee queries and requests.
  • Manage the training function, providing and sourcing training interventions for employees.
  • Management of the reception function.

The Person:

As a motivated self-starter you will have:

  • A 3rd level qualification and CIPD Membership.
  • 5 plus years post qualification HR experience – you will currently be working as a HR Manager /HR Business Partner in fast moving HR environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish employment legislation.
  • Professional attitude with strong influencing, organisational, time management and planning skills.
  • The ability to meet deadlines in a demanding environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to manage data, analyse it, compile and generate reports.
  • Experience across recruitment, performance management and employee relations processes.
  • Experience in the design of training materials and in the delivery of training.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS word, power point and excel.
  • Direct experience of managing a team is desirable.

You will also be:

  • Effective in situation analysis and conflict resolution.
  • Effective in stakeholder management in a complex and dynamic environment.
  • Able to think and plan strategically.
